Berlin & Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg
September 12, 2007

One of the prettiest parts of the City!!!
Day 7

It was a bummer that the weather was so crappy. I was freezing and Brian and I were wearing flip flops and I had on Capris, and it decided to rain as well. I have heard so many wonderful things about Hamburg, but the weather really ruined it for us. We walked around some and saw the Justice building, Music Hall, History Museum, Brahms Museum, and the Rathaus. We took a 2pm train back to Berlin, because we were so pissed!!! haha but other wise it was okay.

Hamburg was a 2! Only based on the crappy weather and our foul mood afterword!!!!

Brian and Ashley trip: day trip. Day 9.

Berlin
September 10-13, 2007

View from our world famous hostel The Circus!
cont. Day 7
Our train left Brussels at around 8:30am and we arrived in Berlin at 4:10pm. The train station in Berlin is massive, we had a hard time finding the Reise Zentrum so we could buy our tickets to Prague! We took the bus to our hostel and checked in, as usual, and got orientated. We stayed in the world famous the Circus***** hostel on Rosenthal Platz, it was really nice. We went to an Internet cafe to check up our correspondence and then walked around some. Brian and I didn't feel all that comfortable walking around Berlin at night because of all the graffiti, which made it look unsafe, plus we didn't want to get lost. So we went back for an early night, had a drink at the bar then hit the sack!!

Day 8
Today was a great day for both the city of Berlin and us. We went on a 5 hour walking tour with a guide from Wales, England who is a political science major and about 6'5!! He was amazing, we learned so much random stuff about the city. We saw... Museum Island, Berlin Cathedral, "Red Town Hall", Deutscher Dom(a Protestant Church built by Catholics), Rranzosische Kirche( a Catholic Church built by Protestant), TV tower by alexander platz, walked down Unter den Linden strasse( under the lemon street), to the Berlin Wall, then to Hotel Adlon( where Micheal Jackson stayed and held out the baby!), D-Z bank( that is crazy on the inside), Brandenburg Gate, to the Memorial for the murdered Jews of Europe, Checkpoint Charlie(named after the military alphabet "C" for charlie), Reichstag (parliment), and last we sat on Hilter's bunker/gravesite (which no one would ever know it was there, unless it was pointed out to them!). We pretty much ended the day with a visit to the inside of Parliament!!! It was great!

Day 9
We took a day trip to Hamburg see above, then came back and walked around a little more, visited the Internet cafe, talked to some friends we made, went to the bar and lost Quiz night which is pretty sad because there were so many question about the United States on it!!! We went to bed around 11!!!

Day 10
We woke up around 5:15 am, checked out, caught bus 240 to the train station and waited for the train. We took the same train that I took from Budapest to Munich, which was not nice. Germany by far has the nicest trains out of all the ones we had taken!!

Berlin is a 4 because of its history. It is not a beautiful city because it has a lot of grafittie, but a walking tour full of historic information and random facts does the city justice!

Brian and Ashley trip: fourth stop. Day 7-10.
