Versailles

Things might have turned out differently if the weather was nicer!
Day Trip
Versailles is not what I expected. If the weather had been better things would have turned out differently. We took a train there from Paris, which is nice because its only 30min so if you are bored you can just right back. Which is exactly what we did. We saw the Chateau De Versailles which was built for King Louis XIV and his family. We saw it an of course it was under construction, we didn't even attempt to go around to the back because we were so upset about the weather! We were there for maybe 45min!!!
Versailles is a 1. The only thing to do there is visit the Chateau, and if its not nice out forget it!
Brian and Ashley trip: day trip! Day 4.
Paris
September 6-8, 2007
It is hard to decide whether Paris is better at night or during the day!!
Cont.. Day 3
We finally arrive at our destination at around 7:30pm. We found our hostel dropped off our bags and went down by the Eiffel Tower. It was really nice, and touristy! we sat out and took in the city then walked down to the Charles Gaulle Arc de Triomphe. We took some pictures, and then walked down the famous street Ave des Champs which is super ritzy!!! We then headed back to our hostel because we had a big day planned for the next!
Day 4
This day was crazy! We woke up at 7am and caught a 8:15 train to Versailles. When we got back we went to the Eiffel Tower to got to the top! We walked up to the second level and then took an elevator to the top. It was excellent, no Empire state building, but the view was quite nice. We then walked pretty much all day long, sitting and enjoying the little spurts of nice weather here and there and eating Creeps!!! YUM! We went along the Seine River to Place de La Concorde, Conciergerie, Basilica, Latin Quarter, Pantheon, and Sainte-Chapelle. We killed some time, before we were going to go to Le Louvre, in front of Notre Dame and we ate Subway right in front of the Notre Dame, which is prime real estate!!! After that we went to Le Louvre were we could get in free on Fridays after 6pm. We saw the Mona Lisa and the Venisus de Milo, which we were actually allow to take photos of both (its not usually allowed). Then we went to go see the Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur. Moulin Rouge was not what I expected, but nice nonetheless.
Day 5
We woke up and left for the train at around 7:30am. We got to the train station and waited about 30min then we were on our way to Belgium. It was only a Two hour train ride to Brussels. *Although our hostel was a little farther away form the city than we would have like it was small, cheap and consisted on a queen size bed, shower, and sink. What more could you need. I would have to say that Paris is spruced up a lot in the movies, it has a lot of interesting sights but I would classify it is a "The Crazy Melting Pot of Europe!"
Paris is a 4! It is interesting and romantic, yet busy and crazy. I could never live there!
Brian and Ashley trip: second stop! Day 3-5.
Strasbourg
September 6th 2007
A nice little city that reminds me of Tübingen, Germany!
cont. Day 3
This was another side trip city. We had another 2 hour layover before arriving in Paris. Strasbourg was a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be! we walked around the city, which had canals, and cute streets. It was a short trip but I don't think we would need much more than that!
Strasbourg was a 2, small but a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be!
